ESG Statement

1. Purpose and scope

This statement sets out how Solo Lattices Company Ltd (Reg. 659731, VAT IE3656380DH), a company incorporated in Ireland, approaches its environmental, social and governance (ESG) responsibilities. It applies to all of our activities: the development of lattice-generation and geometry software for additive manufacturing, our work in collaborative research projects, and our services and tools for preparing research and innovation funding proposals.

Solo Lattices is a small company and is not subject to mandatory sustainability reporting. We publish this statement voluntarily. It describes our principles, what we already do and what we have committed to do. It does not yet contain quantitative indicators; we will add them as we start measuring them (see section 5).

2. Environmental

Material efficiency is the core of our product. Our software generates lattice structures that replace solid volumes with the minimum material a part needs to perform. Our published case studies report substantial material reductions for specific parts. These figures depend on each design and its load case, and we do not present them as a general guarantee.

Simpler end of life. Where possible we design products in a single material, replacing assemblies of glued layers of different materials. This makes parts easier to clean, repair and separate at the end of their use.

Computing footprint. Our geometry engine runs locally on the user's machine, which avoids unnecessary data transfer and cloud processing. When we use cloud services, we give preference to providers that publish emissions data and renewable energy commitments.

Operations. We are a small, distributed team. We hold most meetings online and travel when a meeting in person adds clear value.

Our commitments

• Measure our operational greenhouse gas emissions, including business travel, cloud services and purchased equipment, starting with the 2030 financial year, and publish the results here.
• Take material and energy use into account when we select manufacturing partners and materials for our own prototypes.
• Continue to publish case studies that report material savings with their method and limits stated.

3. Social

Patients and end users. Part of our work is intended for healthcare: orthotics, prostheses and digital health tools. Patient safety comes before speed to market. We work with clinicians from the design stage and treat health data with the protections required by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

People. We offer equal opportunities regardless of sex, gender identity, age, disability, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, family status or any other characteristic protected by law. We do not tolerate harassment or discrimination. We support flexible working and continuous training.

Knowledge and education. Our founders combine industry work with university teaching and research. We take part in European research consortia with universities, hospitals and companies, and we publish research results where our agreements with partners allow.

Suppliers and partners. We expect our suppliers and partners to respect human rights, labour law and environmental law. We will not knowingly work with organisations that use forced or child labour.

4. Governance

Board oversight. The Board of Directors is responsible for this statement, for our Code of Ethics and for the company's compliance with the law. The Board reviews both documents at least once a year.

Ethics and compliance. Our Code of Ethics covers anti-bribery, conflicts of interest, research integrity, responsible use of artificial intelligence, medical device safety and the proper use of public funds. It applies to directors, employees, contractors and anyone acting on our behalf.

Conflicts of interest. Several of our directors also hold academic or clinical positions. These roles are declared and recorded, and are managed as described in our Code of Ethics, in particular in research projects where a director's institution is also a partner.

Public funding. When we receive public funding, including European Union grants, we follow the grant agreement and the applicable financial rules, keep complete records and cooperate fully with audits and checks.

Data protection and security. We apply data protection by design. Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal data.

Regulatory compliance. Products intended for medical use are developed with the requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU) 2017/745 in view. AI-based tools are assessed against the EU Artificial Intelligence Act (EU) 2024/1689.

5. Next steps and reporting

Over the next reporting cycles we plan to add measurable indicators following the voluntary sustainability reporting standard for SMEs (VSME) developed by EFRAG. We will update this page when we do.
